SPUN - DIRECTOR'S CUT

ROSS (Jason Schwartzman) is tweaking HARD. He needs to score some speed REAL BAD. There’s only one place to go. Ross heads over to Spider Mike’s pad in his beat-up old Volvo. SPIDER MIKE (John Leguizamo) is the high-strung ultra-paranoid crystal meth dealer. He wants to hook Ross up but there’s one small problem. He’s lost his stash. Spider Mike tells Ross to chill out on the couch with fellow tweakers NIKKI (Britney Murphy), FRISBEE (Patrick Fugit), and his girlfriend COOKIE (Mena Suvari) while he searches around for the missing dope. Nikki, the ultra-hot stripper from Vegas, eyes his BROWN VOLVO parked out front and formulates a plan. When is becomes clear that Spider Mike’s stash is lost for good, Nikki grins at the college dropout and tells him that her BOYFRIEND can hook him up with whatever he needs…

The two split Spider Mike’s and drive to a sleazy motel where Nikki introduces Ross to her boyfriend, THE COOK (Mickey Rourke). The Cook is one BAD ASS DUDE. He’s also a big time methamphetamine manufacturer. His dingy motel room serves as his kitchen where he cooks up batches of crystal from his make-shift lab and then passes it on to Spider Mike to hustle. The Cook flips Ross a bag of meth and offers him a deal he can’t refuse. Free dope in exchange for free rides in his car. Ross gladly agrees to the proposition as the Cook walks back in his motel room without saying another word. Ross quickly does a hit alone in the parking lot. His head EXPLODES. Damn, that Cook makes good shit. Ross knows he’s going to be up for a long time. Sleep is definitely not an option. He’s going to get SPUN….

Over the next three days, Ross goes on an epic drug binge as he becomes the Cook’s personal chauffeur and confidant. He bounces from one hilariously bizarre situation to the next as he makes his descent into the crazy world of speed addicts, a world of no boundaries and no morality. His meth-induced odyssey begins with him inexplicably leaving his stripper semi-girlfriend APRIL (Chloe Hunter) tied to his bed after an all night sex romp to give Nikki an emergency ride to the veterinarians. It seems her dog Taco has turned green from all the toxic fumes spewing from the Cook’s wicked meth lab. Ross next gives the Cook a lift into town to pick up some “ingredients” at a truck stop. On the way back they make a quick detour to the local porn store where the Cook delivers a memorable homily on the art of buying adult videos. They then stop at Circus Liquors to pick up a six-pack of beer as the Cook next demonstrates his ability to kick some serious ass by delivering a vicious beating to a rival drug dealer ANGEL (Nicholas Gonzalez) for being abusive to his bitches. Their trip ends at the local strip club where they hookup with Nikki. Ross then heads back for another all night session of sex with April who is still tied to the bed.

On the second sleepless day of meth and madness things begin to rapidly escalate for our tweakers. Two crazed speed-using COPS (Peter Stormare & Alexis Arquette) arrest Frisbee and his poor 400-pound mother while searching for the Cook. Frisbee agrees to turn state’s evidence and wear a wire but knows better than to turn on the badass meth manufacturer. He instead takes the cops to Spider Mike’s which sets the stage for an outrageous bust scene that lands Spider & Cookie in jail and Frisbee in the hospital minus one testicle. Meanwhile, across town, Nikki is completely SPUN OUT from the constant use of crank and breaks up with the Cook. After an intense all night conversation with Ross while driving aimlessly around in his Volvo, Nikki decides to the take the first bus back to Vegas in search of her BABY (Felix) that she lost custody to the state. The Cook however could care less about Nikki and continues to bake his batch until he accidentally manages to BLOW his motel room sky high and lands himself in JAIL.

The constant use of drugs and lack of sleep by the third day begins to warp Ross’ brain and tests his sanity as he experiences outrageous daytime hallucinations. Ross knows his life is spinning out of control but he can’t seem to escape the allure of the drugs. The one thing that keeps Ross from completely losing it is his DREAM of reuniting with AMY (Charlotte Ayana), his one TRUE LOVE in life. He gets his chance when the Cook is bailed out of jail by THE MAN (Eric Roberts) who is the Cook’s financial backer. After picking up new supplies for meth manufacturing at the Man’s gay palace, Ross arranges a meeting with his old girlfriend at a city park. When he finally meets Amy his dream is shattered when she exposes him for what he really is... A SAD PATHETIC SPEED JUNKIE who is wasting his life away. The truth is too much for Ross as he gets back in the Volvo and allows the Cook to take the wheel. He slowly dozes off to sleep as the Cook drives him to his secret meth layer in the country where the ride explosively ends once and for all.
